Sérgio Simões, vice-president of B the roundtable "New Medicines and Advanced Therapies" at Biomeet 2023, the Annual Meeting of the Biotechnology Sector in Portugal.
Among other challenges highlighted by participants in the "New Medicines and Advanced Therapies" session, as Sérgio Simões mentioned, the very high indirect costs of the industry that hinder the more efficient development of better production technologies, and the lack of scale, stand out. However, he adds, "there are many things where we can create value and solve this monopoly of scarcity in supply chains".
The event, which aims to provide an environment full of networking opportunities, took place at the Temple of Poetry, in Oeiras, on September 25 and 26, and brought together professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and public entities linked to the Life Sciences and Biotechnology sector in Portugal.
